Available to support organisations and individuals, bringing a range of experience as a consultant, interim leader, and board member.
Governance
With over thirty years experience serving on and supporting Boards of Directors, Governors and Trustees, I help organisations develop their governance framework to deliver best practice by undertaking reviews, designing new structures, drafting constitutional documents, and providing training.
In 2018-19, I worked with a well known professional sport club to modernise their rules to better comply with the Code for Sport Governance following the expansion of their remit to encompass responsibility for overseeing the grassroots game in their area.
I’m currently (2024-2025) working with a membership organisation which promotes one of London’s most vibrant neighbourhoods to enhance their governance arrangements and supporting a new airline to ensure its governance and compliance meets regulatory best practice.
Stakeholder Engagement
Stakeholder engagement has been at the core of my career from communicating with politicians and the media, to liaising with international and domestic sport governing bodies, local authorities, and government departments, as well as communicating directly with the general public.
A recent client was a major international FMCG business, developing a stakeholder engagement programme in support of their decision to move away from their long-standing core product line.
People and organisational design
Throughout my career, I have led significant organisational change programmes in a variety of settings including the merger of the Public Private Partnership Programme with Partnerships UK plc to create Local Partnerships; major board and executive level leadership changes at the Amateur Swimming Association; and a new Target Operating Model and organisational design for the City of London Corporation.
I am able to bring a laser sharp focus to help organisations to identify how might best shape themselves to deliver their vision and operate most efficiently.
Philanthropy
I spent my early career fundraising for charities and universities, successfully raising significant funds for a range of projects, including securing a multi-million pound gift for the naming rights for City University’s business school. I have also been on the other side of the table as a board member of several major grant-making foundations including City Bridge and Trust for London.
Using this experience, I have supported London’s oldest children’s charity, a major public school, and multiple other entities in the development of their income generation strategies and provided assistance to a substantial grant-maker and a wealthy family in redefining their approach to philanthropy.
Inclusion
Promoting equality and inclusion has been a personal passion of mine since my teenage years. From working with Stonewall on the first age of consent debate in Parliament in 1994, to overseeing the introduction of the Equality Framework for Local Government, and launching the City of London’s Tackling Racism Taskforce and its inclusive policy on gender identity, I have committed my life to celebrating diversity and advancing equality and inclusion.
I bring lived experience as someone who is bi/queer, disabled, non-binary, and a person of faith, and with a deep empathy for the diversity of others. I’d be delighted to share my experience with your organisation and support you to be fully inclusive.
